“The best day of my life” is the quote from one of our Townfield children as she arrived back from a challenging, exhausting, exhilerating day canoeing! Oaklands embraces our motto of “teamwork prepares for success” on every level. It encompasses the whole curriculum; groups have composed poetry through the stimulating mine visit, including technical new vocabulary, plus literary description. Dressed for all weathers, happy, invigorated children thrive on the challenges of: climbing, abseiling, gorge walking, oreinteering, teambuilding activites and personal development.

“I have been attending Oaklands courses in both a professional and voluntary (school governor) capacity for over 20 years . Oaklands provides a unique and outstanding opportunity to develop new skills and meet new friends in a stimulating and rewarding environment. A truely fantastic experience”
Ted Behan Assistant Principal Birkenhead 6th Form College( retired)
Chair of Governors Townfield Primary
“South Wirral High School have used the Oaklands Centre over many years. Through the high quality outdoor activities provided by the highly qualified and motivated staff our students have worked on developing teamwork, self reliance and leadership skills which we have continued to build on back at school. Recently, we have undertaken an innovative approach to GCSE intervention in English using the outdoors as the medium to promote creative writing – with some spectacular results!”
