Mersey Park Primary School, Part 1. June 2017

Good to see everyone enjoying the sun!! Here’s a few photos from your course with us.

And here’s what you said…

Our School/Group: Mersey Park Primary School

Our activity group: Green

Today we went Gorge Walking at Geirionydd Pick

During the day we…

First of all, we had breakfast then we kitted up into a hat, wet suit, cagoule and a life jacket. Then, we got onto the minibus and started our amazing, once in a life time adventure. After arriving at our delightful destination we continued on by unloading our canoes, after doing so, we got our paddles and put on our equipment. Secondly, we climbed into our canoes by trudging through the water and set off. Whilst out on the water we had a mini race with the other canoe by seeing who could turn around the quickest, afterwards we raced down the lake to the other side. As soon as we reached the other end, we had our delicious, lovely lunch. Afterwards, we hiked through the spiky nettles and into the cold gorge and there we started our gorge walk. When we were canoeing back one of our team mates lost their welly in the water and another team mate fell off and face planted the water!

Our team work was great because…

Whilst gorge waking, each one of us helped one another through the strong, rapids. When unloading the canoes we supported each other, although the canoe was very heavy. Whilst canoeing each person jumped in the water and then it was up to us to help them up onto the boat. We had to remember to collect the barrels off the minibus and onto the canoes. We felt very honoured to do it and we listened and paid attention all of the time.

Today we learnt about…

We have learnt how to work as a team and not only think about ourselves but other people. Also we learnt how to use a paddle in the canoe. We learnt how to put all of our kit on properly. We learnt about lead and when it was used and what it is and was used for. Also we learnt about ourselves and how much we could come out of our comfort zone , even if it meant facing our fears.

And…

We have had a fantastic time! Thank you!
