These courses are aimed at year 5 and 6 children giving them a real taste of adventure and challenge. The children will be expected to take on responsibility for themselves and their equipment during the week and to work in a team, they will learn about themselves, others and the environment through taking part in a number of challenging activities. This is a great opportunity for primary aged children to gain experience of independance before going on to secondary school, for a teacher to build a strong self assured hard working team for the coming year, or as a finale to primary school life. Our instructors are well used to relating outdoor adventurous experiences back to curriculum areas in schools and can concentrate on specific areas if requested.
“The best day of my life” is the quote from one of our Townfield children as she arrived back from a challenging, exhausting, exhilerating day canoeing! Oaklands embraces our motto of “teamwork prepares for success” on every level. It encompasses the whole curriculum; groups have composed poetry through the stimulating mine visit, including technical new vocabulary, plus literary description. Dressed for all weathers, happy, invigorated children thrive on the challenges of: climbing, abseiling, gorge walking, oreinteering, teambuilding activites and personal development.
